| | This restaurant should be avoided at all costs. If it's still open within a year of this review I'll be amazed. My wife and I have never been treated so rudely, and experienced such poor and obnoxious service in all our lives. Another couple had just arrived before us, but without a booking were told very abruptly to leave. We had a booking, but were immediately ushered to the small lounge area, only to witness a fight between Renee the chef and his wife (hostess) complete with shouting and swearing with the "F" word at full blast. We should have left then. We then had to demand to be seated, and only received one menu, and the wine list. Still in shock at what we had just witnessed, we thought well the food will have to be fantastic, to get over this! No service was forthcoming. No drinks offered. Nothing. Finally when we did get to place our order, she waffled on in a far too loud voice of their specials, and described one dish as having "blah, blah, blah," (I kid you not) whatever that may be! When ordering our main courses she rudely rolled her eyes and sighed when we wanted our steaks cooked well done. She said "doesn’t matter we will cook medium-well, it's the same". I informed her politely they were in fact not the same. She mumbled something in French, and disappeared. So the entrees finally come out one at a time. The scallops were as tough as old boots, and the crab crepe was way too hot, and really unappealing. When the steaks came, one was the wrong order, so we were left with only my main course which was burnt on the outside. Ten minutes later, after some more shouting from the kitchen, my wife's correct order arrived with the sauce being a dismal failure. During the meal shouts of "HEY !!!! and crashing pots could be heard all throughout the restaurant. If it wasn't for the prices, it would be comical. Speaking of price, we don't mind paying top dollar for good food and service (like Aria for example), but this was a disgrace. The entrees are only marginally under the mains, and all dishes are terrible value for money. Our wine was never topped up even once! It was obvious that they are under-staffed and in desperate need of a "Ramsey" make over, and I don't even like Gordon Ramsey. Finally we couldn't take any more, and had to leave. On leaving, the diner next to us blew his nose into his napkin and left it on the chair as a memento. At first we couldn’t believe what we just saw, but we were obviously not alone in our feelings about this dump. Maybe it would be more appropriate to change the name to La Shithouse. It would be a far better fit. | |
