When eating there recently, we complained about the Veal being tough and they argued and eventually the waiter actually told me to F#uk Off. I still can't believe it, I had been eating there for over 10 years, never again.

Amazing.
I assume that you had enjoyed tender veal there for almost 10 years and so were entitled to "help them out" by letting them know that this time it wasn't quite right?
Just a bit sad on both counts, that they didn't know enough about customer service to look after a long standing customer. But ditching a place over one bad experience? Must have been pretty bad for them not to deserve a second chance? Having been married over ten years, My wife and I give each other a thousand chances when we have the occasion to get upset at each other.
Sounds like you needed a change.

I guess on what i said you could draw that conclusion, in reality it's been going down hill for a while, but you don't honesty expect me to return somewhere that treated me like that do you. |

| | Come to papa....
I was very lucky to be introduced to this place. It kinda gets lost among the many restaurants & cafes along this strip. It looks like an older pizza bar & that's just what it is, at the front. You walk through to get to the restaurant.
First impressions aren't great. The place seems kind of tacky with it's fishing nets & plastic lobsters. Then you get that garlic tang in the air & you just know you're in for a treat....
I will agree that sometimes the staff aren't the best. Like most places at Bondi the staff seem to be mainly younger backpackers and staff turnover is moderately high for this reason. Some of them aren't overly experienced but on the whole most of them are fairly pleasant.
The menu is a food lovers delight. A wonderful selection of pasta, seafood & traditional Italian meals. My personal favourite is the chicken scallopini although my partner couldn't say enough about the blue swimmer crabs. Being located amongst so many other dinning options makes prices very reasonable.
I've yet to eat at a true Italian restaurant & find a poor wine list and Papa Giovanni's did not let me down. A good selection of local & imported wines means almost every menu item had a wine to match. For non - wine drinkers there is a full bar & a wide selections of beers.
If you don't have the time or inclination to have a sit down meal you can always grab a pizza & eat it on the beach. We've done that before, but personally I prefer the restaurant.

| | Rude Rude Rude Rude Rude Rude Rude!
Ate here on Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend. Started off o.k. Seated quicky outside and food came quick. Noticed ingredients missing off our pizza but decided to leave it and just make sure it wasn't included on our bill. Pizza wasn't too bad. Our drinks ran out and we were never approaced to be asked for new drinks. It was a hot day too so not very impressed. Then coming to pay... You'd think it was a crime to take yourself to the counter to pay. I didn't know my table number and the owner (or manager - an older man with grey hair wearing some beach boys style hawaii red shirt) was so rude about it and made ME go back out and see what the number was mumbling to me just a little over his breath "I cant help you if you don't know what the table number is, how am I supposed to know...blah blah blah". He kept on and on in front of other customers I was so embarrassed!!! I went outside and there was no table number on the table anyways! What am I a mind reader? After asking a waiter I went back inside and he continued to go on and on about it. I just looked at him in disbelief. Was this guy for real? He refused to complete my account and made one of his staff do continuing to mutter at her about it! Are you so busy and making so much money that you don't need to be nice and helpful to your customers. And on top of that they over-charged me!!! For the extra ingredients and THEN some! I was so furious and shocked I couldnt even be bothered trying to reason with this idiot. When I told my Director about it on Monday he told me he dined there not so long ago as when he saw "'Giovanni" (that's my Directors name also" he thought "this has to be good.. it has my name!" He was with this family and in-laws on another warm Sydney day and told me they waited TWO HOURS for their food! Why do they even bother to operate if they have no love for their work??!!
