Thumbs up Escoffier would be proud

This restaurant is one of those 'experience' places. The chef is a real chef who cares about his food and artistry. To the point that there is no salt and pepper on the table - and rules on the menu: including "Don't ask for tomato sauce" and "Don't ask for ice cream with these French provincial pancakes".

Perhaps not the best place for kids (particularly fussy kids). But to really experience food the way the French intended - this is a great place to go. Do book early though - he's pretty packed.

Default Phillipe experience

Have eaten here twice now. Both time with set menus . The first time was NYE 2005/2006 and the most recent time was Bastille Day on 14th July.

I am looking forward to eating here on a regular evening and ordering off the ever changing (apparently) menu.

Both experiences were fantastic, true french cuisine prepared by a skilled Chef who has pride in his heritage and his countries traditions.

BYO and good value for money (about $70 pp for a multi course taste bonanza)

Phillipe entertains the crowd with a running commentary on the the dishes as they are served and they even had CanCan dancers on Bastille Day.

Highly recommended
