Thumbs down blue water grill restaurant hornsby

Dined there 20/10/07- food was tasteless & cold in some instances. risotto had no flavour- lamb shanks were ordinary & the orders got mixed up - not as good as we have had before. The menu choices sound exquisite but when the food comes it looks nothing like description on the menu. Definitely not worth the money - cynthia

Thumbs down

Had lunch there 13/2/2010. Chose from the Chefs recommendations - a $30 main meal plate that was described as -in something similar to "Chicken breast pressed with macadamias, baked potatoes and salad with sesame seeds". What is delivered is a meal similar to chicken schnitzel style that was deep fried almost to a crisp and the meat about 2mm thick. If I threw it at somebody it would have caused bodily harm. Basically it could have been a frozen meal from Woolworths.

When I complained, the staff argued that what I got was what was on the menu, the owner came out and agreed that the meat was very thin but stated that the "Executive Chef" had said that that was how it was meant to be cooked. My argument was that the menu did not state in any way that the meal was deep fried or some other fancy way to described 'deep fried' or schnitzel style. Then still expected me to pay.

My wife had grilled salmon and that came out over cooked and dry. Whole experience was horrible. Very different to the many times I have been there before. Will avoid taking my business there again.

I have given this place too many chances, I have been here 3 times and each time the food was horriible. The reason why I had come each time was because it has a lovley location right near the water fountain. After today I will never return.

The first time I dined here they had friendly staff. The food was below average, and I'll put it this way...I make it better at home.

The second time I went, I thought oki lets give it another go... big mistake.. I ordered a chicken penne... the chicken was over cooked and the sundried tomatos in it were off.. I felt disgusting after eating it. I could not eat for the rest of the day/night and later that night suffered food posioning.

Finally today I went with a friend for lunch, they had refurbished the resturant and changed the decor and I thought oh maybe they have changed owners or something had changed for the better, but once again to my dissapointment everything about my experieance was disgusting.

We waited for a few minutes at the entrance to be seated, during this time we were not greeted nor were we recognised in any sort of way. I would understand if they were busy but they were not at all, and once the lady finally came to seat us she did not greet us, she just sat us down.
I was not very hungry so I just ordered a greek salad. Once my salad came out the bowl was 80% tomato (no exaggeration) never in my life had I seen so much tomato in a salad, and the tomato was covered with a thin layer of other vegies. So i decided to call over the same waitress that seated us and I explained/showed to her that the whole salad was tomato and I would like it if it could be redone with less tomatos. she did not say a word, picked up the bowl and went back in with it then when she came out she place the bowl down and said "Is that better for you now?" and once again the food was not fresh the cumcumber was dry like it had been sliced a few days ago.

Seated next to us were 5 of the chefs that worked in blu, they were very young, and loud. Perhaps they need to employ more professional and trained staff. and definatly need to train their staff at the front off house some customer service and manners.

Overall I would not reccomend this place to anyone. over priced, over rated, don't be fooled by the location.
