I experienced the absolute worst dining experience at this restaurant. I booked a table for 11 for a friday night to celebrate my birthday. We arrived and everything was fine, but when it came to ordering I was told that each of my guest must pay at least $50-60 for their overall meal since we had advance booked a table. I objected to this - he had not stipulated this when i rang, and there is no way he could enforce this without us entering a signed contract. He argued, and finally insulted my guests and I by saying that we should all 'go to mcdonalds, it's more fitting'. I felt this was a direct insult and discrimination, as we were all around 22 years of age and do not think he would have acted so rudely to an older group. We immediately left and as he did, he further insulted us. Be warey younger diners. Apparently our business is not valued by this retauraunt.

In response to the message posted above. It must be known that in fact the circumstances are some what different to what this person has put down. The booking was made for 11 people on a friday night. Friday being one of the busiest nights of the week for Sevardi. What was not expected by these particular customers, was not that they were celebrating a birthday, but instead preferring to use the restaurant as simply somewhere to stay.

The waiter on this particular evening having seated the party waited approximately one and a half hours before the table agreed to order anything from the menu. Up until that time, knowone had even ordered a drink, prefferring to use what they had brought. When becoming insistent the waiter was to learn that from a table of 11, only 3 people wanted to order anything (only salads and desert). This is beyond contemplation for any restaurant whether it be Mcdonalds or anywhere. Although the party had not entered into a contract they had entered the restaurant with the implied intention to dine. When this was discovered as not their intention, after 2 hours of the parties arrival, it was suggested they leave. Not only having lost the restaurant business, but as a result had to turn away regular and important customers.

Thanks for your response. It is always good to hear the other side.

I have even heard of prominent sports teams being turned away from restaurants where there intention is to use it as a meeting place and drink BYO only.

While any group may not have purchased $50-60 per head, if people genuinely dine at a restaurant they are generally welcome. Bars are generally different and are more setup for casual dining with only some members of a group actually eating, but they don't accept BYO.

Please encourage diners at your restaurant to post reviews here - some positive ones would make a good read. I also encourage you to add some information regarding your restaurant. But please register with this website first rather than just being a guest. Links from this site to your restaurant website (it any) are accepted on payment of a fee - please email for details.

Yes the complainants version of events is rather confilcting when you hear both sides of the story. I guess some people expect to have everything, for nothing.

We dined at Sevardi with a group of 12 people and the service and food was perfect.

It sounds like the disgruntled patron will face a lot of difficulty in life if he/she expects to have access to services without remunerating the person providing the services.
