Stuyvesant's House
My partner and I are regular diners around Crows Nest and the City. We like good food and good service and are happy to pay for it. We recently decided to go to Stuyvesant's House for dinner and we both were looking forward to trying something new. Upon entry we were welcomed with our bottle of byo wine in toe "a Zilzie Merlot". Upon viewing our wine the owner stated that he did not serve "piss like that" and ushered us to out seat, where he grabbed the bottle of wine he "had chosen" for us and said it was too good for us. My partner then ordered a beer from the unfriendly waiter who had the warmth of a wet blanket. We were then given white wine glasses to drink our "piss". The waiter talked us through the specials and we were given about 5 minutes to chose entrees and mains. The feeling of not being welcomed was slapped in our face on entry and continued, hence we decided to leave. When asked why by the waiter why, we began to explain and then we were waived away by the owner to go. After that we went for dinner to the Harbour Kitchen at the Hyatt in the city and had a wonderful evening with superb food, wine and most importantly service. Maybe it was our age, we are in out early 30's, I am not sure but I have never been treated like that in my life, an experience I hope I never have to encoutner again.
