Astral - Star City Decor - Beautiful , large tables and comfortable seats , a fantastic 180 degree view over the city and darling harbour . A nice restaurant for a special occation. Food - We had the pumkin soup and a salmon sushimi although you would not recongnise them as such from the menu because it is worded in such a pompous verbous manner that its hard to figure out what the item actually is. Main course was a fillet steak stewed in white wine , delicious but hard to determine from the menu. Mouse and an apple concoction for dessert.
Dont get me wrong , the food here is stunningly presented and absolutely delicious. Its just that to understand the menu (it is in english) you need to specialise in cryptic crossword puzzles. I am well educated and widely read but this restaurant must pride itself on confusing its clientelle . Service - Impeccable . Great attention to detail and made our meal very enjoyable (after we figured out what we had actually ordered). Value - Doesnt really come into 5 star venues like this does it .
The pre-show menu is a set 3 courses with a choice of 3 items per course. Including the $60 bottle of Scorpo Pinot Gris (great) a glass of sticky and the $18 tip the total came to $250.
Not exactly cheap eats but it was never supposed to be .
I like it here and will return.
