baaah... address is a tad misleading. we couldn't find the place (quay street doesn't go up to 106!!) at first. it's supposed to be:
Shop 106- 107
8 Quay Street
Haymarket
...rather than...
Shop 8
106- 107 Quay Street
Haymarket
the place is nice. 3/4 of the floor space has the table/chair/tablegrill arrangement, the remaining (1 whole section) is slightly elevated, more traditional sit-on-the-floor-with-a-low-table-plus-take-off-your-shoes style. they have plenty of cushions though (argh cramp cramp!!)
food is tasty at $22 per head. all you can eat. they bring the food to you on a large dish, so it's not really buffet. chicken, beef, pork (a tad spicy), small dishes (some with seaweed thingys, seafood pancake, bok choy with kimchi, potato noodles). no ice cream though.. probably need to order separately.
place closes at 11pm, though at 10:20 they said they'll be closing in 10minutes. but then again we are uni students, so... it'll take up 10mins before we actually stand up to leave, plus another 30mins to calculate the bill (we did AA, an accountant did the calcs, an actuary counted the money, an engineer double checked >_<!)
service was awesome. 2 waitresses and sometimes an additional one to cater for us, plus another 5-6 tables, average of 5 people on each. so they were kinda worked out (aka service would've been even better if they had more waitresses). plus they helped us cook and changed the grill/coals relatively often. they don't speak english very well, it was kinda hard to ask for more hot coal (fire? as in the roof is on fire? light? sun? heat? *making explosion gestures*).
personally the thing i liked most about it, is that the little section we had was perfect for a group our size. we considered lim's charcoal korean bbq at hurstville where you have the normal table/chair arrangement but aside from wanting to try something new, lim's doesn't have enough room for you to lie down, sit back and chat away after dinner. it's more.. comfortable, the atmosphere.
even though i've only been once, i highly recommend it (hmm.. 8/10?)

We've gotten around to updating the details so they're right now Thanks for the heads-up.
Love the bit about calculating the bill mate, I'm an engineer myself! Glad you had a sweet time, have a good one,
Gerard
