Unhappy Wedding Function - Disappointing Experience

We had our wedding function on 18 December and we were somehow disappointed with our expectations and the restaurant claimed level of service.

We were told that our guests had an alternative choice between two meals, including entree' and main, but that was not the case on the day. Waiters were advising our guests that they could not have what they chose. This was a bit of a paradox considering that just less than a week before we were told that the food had already been bought and organised and therefore they could not totally refund us for two people who were supposed to come, but for one person only.

Portions were much smaller than the free trial we had before the wedding and the pasta dish (Spaghetti Marinara) was a bit overcooked.

The cake was very nice to see on the outside but tasteless on the inside. It was also served in paperbags (not requested by us) which looked tacky and gave the impression that the party was over and it was time for our guests to leave (one hour and a half before the due time for the party to finish).

The bride simply requested at the end of the meal an Affogato (espresso coffee with one vanilla scoop of ice-cream) and was told by the waiter that it was not included in the menu.

In this regard, gelato flavours were also not the ones agreed before.

Despite the beautiful location and the comprhensive package, which included DJ, 5 star hotel hotel room and cake, we would not reccomend our friends and collegues to have a function at this restaurant unless payment is made afterwards on the basis of the level of service provided, conditions agreed and customer satisfaction.

Exclamation disappointing experience: Italian Village in the Rocks (at Circular Quay)

We had a very similar experience to that described above. We have always Italy and real italian food and therefore decided to go to the Italian Village in the Rocks (at Circular Quay) to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Italian Village in the Rocks (at Circular Quay) was nothing but a disappointment.

The people at the entrance were careless and our wait barely had time to serve us. The prices were very high, but despite that we had to particularly ask for the basics. We asked for a good dish (the pasta specialty) and it was very over cooked and had a bitter flavour. We had to wait for more than 30 minutes for our food, even though we ordered quite basic dishes. People sitting around us also looked quite uneasy. At the end, we were even charged for orders that we never made.

If you want a good dinner experience in Sydney, look around first, and don't pick the first exotic place that you find, just because it happens to be in front of the Opera House.

Default Where are the good reviews?

An awesome restaurant, real large, an amazing location. I have personally walked around the area.

Sounds like some finishing touches are needed regards the service and cuisine.

Hey, there must be someone out there that has had a good experience at the Italian Village Restaurant, so many go there.
  • Can these reviews inspire others to add some positive reviews?
  • Can these reviews inspire the the Italian Village to add the finishing touch to get more people positive about their dining experience?
More reviews please.
