Default jordon's restaurant-darling harbor-unimpressive

I recently dined, for the first time,at Jordan's on 21 dec 2005.The food was disappointing in part.An entree of prawns and rice was superb.Truly the best tasting prawns ever.A great start to an expensive meal that went downhill from there. The female waiter ( she certainly was most impressive with her service and friendly smile) warned us that the lobster, usually selling up to $135 whole
was reduced to $80 due to some problem with them (can't recall the reason fully) -somthing about them stored in the water at the wrong temperature. The end result was a large lobster that was tough and stringy and at $80 without side dishes, was an abomination. It should not have been served but thrown out.A side dish of potatoes (cost extra) was undercooked and barely edible.
For dessert We ordered Pavlova. It is impossible to buy one of good quality in Sydney cake shops (they use cheap sugars in the baking process). The hazelnut/chocolate pavlova was of excellent quality but needed more cream on the side due to the dryness of the meringue.Worst of all it wasn't a pavlova-merely a meringue. The pastry chef needs to return to school to study exactly what a pavlova consists of.The cocktail ordered-golden dream- was only passable .It lacked the frothiness one should expect and what were strawberries doing in the drink? I had already supplied the contents so it should have been spot on.
The staff need to have a better system for finding tables (our waiter was faultless) as three times during our meal, staff were bringing food/drink to our table that we had not ordered.Leo Schofield would not have been impressed with the lobster either.
A pity as the restaurant came with high hopes and at $150 I expected a main coure that was edible.
