Well it took me a little longer to get to Miro than I thought but really enjoyed it.
This restaurant has reviews on this site that vary wildly from terrible to excellent when in fact neither is true. I rate it "very good" to get excellent from me "everything has to be perfect". It wasn't. The service was great , from the booking through to the bill .The waitress' were very friendly and helpful and the food was brought promptly and was hot and fresh. The Sangria jug was replaced as soon as we emptied it and overall the service was spot on. Because the service is fast it would be a great pre or post movie option. The decor is fresh and clean but there are two different seating options. Soft benchs or conventional hard seats. The benchs are preferred and are always first to be taken. It does make you feel a little second best to be shown to the normal tables , maybe Miro can deal with that one day. Next time I book I will be requesting a bench. The food was great. No ifs or buts, great. We had deep fried baby eggplant , rare steak with a blue cheese sauce , whitebait , baby asparagas with a white tangy sauce , spanish sausage and garlic prawns. Pipis & mussells were on the menu but were not available , Sat night, slack.
Churros with chocolate dipping sauce for dessert with coffee was a great way to finish the meal. We washed it all down with a couple of jugs a sangria which had been made too fresh and had not had time for the wine and fruit to meld. It was also served too warm for my taste and need ice added. The price was $150 ($50 per head) including the $15 tip. A bit dear for tapas but then again we are not in Spain are we. But I guess I'm being a little hard , if you go to any good restaurant and have a great meal , two bottles of wine , dessert and coffee its going to cost this much or more. |

Good to see another perspective of this "infamous" restaurant. Interesting, seems like any publicity is good publicity? There have been a few people that have felt inspired to visit and see what all the fuss is about. Sounds like for any day either the diner or restaurant can "have a bad hair day". Much like anywhere.
