| | I went to Shinju with my colleagues for a Christmas party. The restaurant was extremely filthy and had an unpleasant odour. I noticed a cobweb in the exhaust on top of the grill, which ruined my appetite already before the food even arrived! However, I decided to put it in the back of my mind and did not let the team down by not participating in the Teppanyaki fun. Our chef's name was Steven and he was the most miserable and rudest chef ever! He did not greet us, did not smile and did not talk with us throughout the meal. The only time when he talked was when he needed to let us know which sauce went with which meal and direction for the Teppanyaki game. He did not make eye contact when he talked, which if he did, he would notice that most of us were trying to listening hard to him and he did not speak good English either. Then, came my turn to catch a bowl of fried rice. I was trying to listening hard to him but since it was so noisy, I had to ask my friend over and over again if she understood what he was saying. Finally, he just blew up at me infront of the whole restaurant saying that I did not pay attention to him and decided not to play a game with me. He was more worried for the waitress that had to clean the floor if I could not catch the food. Mind you, he was juggling salt and pepper grinders and he droped them at least 3 times. The most shocking thing was that he tried to make it up to me after that by saying that he had a good news for me because he wanted to introduce me to his friend that thought I was cute!!! I was so shocked he dared to speak to me in such unproffesional manner. I think if Shinju wants to have better business, then it should get rid of rude and slack staff like Steven and pay more attention to hygiene in the restaurant (My friend saw a cocroach in the kitchen when she walked past it from the ladies room). Valuewise, food and service are not worth a cent of your money. I spent $40 for cold Miso soup, rotten salad, very raw beef, very tiny sauce plates to go with 8 course meals, oily plates like they never been cleaned for years and worst service ever! I left not with happiness as I got to spend time with my colleagues outside work, but how Shinju had ruined my night out. I am a Supervisor in a restaurant, so I know what makes customers happy. That is why I very strongly reccomend to not ever go there. | |
